Daily Mail FINALLY Responds To “Granny Panties” Scandal
It’s the headline that made headlines and the story that fuelled the rage of women across Australia.
Now the Daily Mail has finally responded to an article published on Monday about Samantha Armytage wearing “granny panties”.
Headlined: “Sunrise host Sam Armytage dares to bare with granny panties showing a visible line as she steps out in Sydney ... after slamming rumours she’s dating Channel Seven colleagues” it’s not hard to understand people’s indignation.
It was enough to have the Sunrise host talking to lawyers who reportedly sent a three page letter to the publication.
Along with amending the original copy, the article now has an apology at the bottom of the article.
It reads: “An earlier version of this story contained critical statements regarding Samantha Armytage’s appearance. While the story has since been amended, we apologise for any distress caused to Ms Armytage or readers more generally.”
Along with removing any reference to those “granny panties” the headline has also been updated to a far less critical: “Casual Sunday! Sunrise host Samantha Armytage goes solo as she heads out on a shopping trip after slamming rumours about her dating life”.
While she has yet to make mention of the scandal that has been splashed across the media, Sam did take to Instagram earlier in the week to call out the “gossips”.
In the past week or so, according to the gossips, I've been 'in love with'; a gay colleague, a straight colleague, a bloke I stood next to at the races 3 months ago, a Gladiator, a British boy-band member & 17 other people I've never met. All these men, & I have a bedtime of 7.30pm.....I'm amaaaazing 😂😂😂. (Why haven't they linked me to Prince Harry yet!? I'm insulted.......😂) I urge all of you half-sensible people out there not to read/buy this rubbish. And certainly not to believe it. Where's the integrity in 'journalism' these days? If I stand next to someone, it DOES NOT MEAN I'M DATING THEM 😂😂😂 As you were...... #happysunday
Wearing a shirt that read “No, I’m not dating anyone. No, I don’t know what I’m doing with my life. Yes, I do want another slice of pie” we’re thinking it applies just as well to this situation!
