The Victims Of The Sydney Siege

Sydney's Martin Place siege ended tragically, with the loss of two innocent lives.

The siege ended at two this morning, after 34-year-old Tori Johnson allegedly wrestled the gunman in an attempt to take action.

38-year-old barrister Katrina Dawson died later in hospital.

Dawson has three children - aged eight, five and three.

It is being reported Johnson tried to knock the gun from hostage-taker Man Monis's hands,  before being executed.

Dawson was reported as a "rising star" at the commercial bar, who was a respected barrister from Eighth Floor Selborne chambers in Phillip Street.

She is the younger sister of prominent defamation barrister Sandy Dawson and McKinsey & Company director Angus Dawson.

Dawson was married to partner at King & Wood Mallesons' partner Paul Smith, and the daughter of prominent businessman Alexander "Sandy" Dawson, the former managing director and chief executive of food company Arnott's.

Our thoughts are with the families and friends of both Tori and Katrina.
