One Of Victoria's Largest Zoos (And Its Animals) Is For Sale
Ever dreamed of owning a zoo? Well, it's time to make your dream a reality!
Victoria's largest regional zoo is for sale, and yes, that includes all the animals.
Halls Gap Zoo is a 21-hectare property, approximately a three hour drive north-west of Melbourne, and is home to more than 160 species.
For a measly $5.5 million, all this could be yours!
Yvonne and Greg Culell bought the zoo 12 years ago, and are only selling it to spend more time with their grandchildren.
"We are two of the most incredibly blessed human beings, how many people get to be caretakers of the wonderful animals that we’ve been involved with?" Greg Culell told Commercial Real Estate.
During their time on the property, the couple transformed the property from a wildlife park to a full-blown tourist attraction. One of their most treasured experiences was working to breed species of animals at risk of extinction.
"We’ve bred endangered species that have been released into the wild… We’re leaving the planet in a better state than in what it was in 12 years ago when we took over this place," Greg added.
From wombats to wallabies to giraffes and leopards, the zoo is home to a variety of native and African animals. They all live in 10 different enclosures with many of them being 'open plains' enabling visitors to get up and close with the animals and reptiles.
Interested in purchasing the property but lack the 'zoo experience'? Don't fret - prospective buyers don't need any previous experience with animals. The current team of trained staff take care of the animals.
If you're thinking of a career change, then look no further than the Halls Gap Zoo!
