Be Prepared, The Weather Forecast Is Catastrophic

The SA Country Fire Service has urged residents to be prepared and have an exit plan, with Catastrophic conditions expected on Saturday.

Total fire bans have been declared in these disctricts:

Northwest Pastoral - Severe

Northeast Pastoral - Severe

West Coast - Severe

Eastern Eyre Peninsula - Severe

Lower Eyre Peninsula - Severe

Flinders - Severe

Mid North - Extreme

Mount Lofty Ranges - Catastrophic

Adelaide Metropolitan - Severe

Yorke Peninsula - Extreme

Kangaroo Island - Severe

Riverland - Severe

Murraylands - Severe

Upper South East - Catastrophic

Lower South East - Catastrophic

The CFS recommends residents implement their Bushfire Survival Plan, warning that with a fire danger rating of Catastrophic, even well prepared, well constructed and defended homes may not be safe during a fire.

In the districts with Catastrophic forecasts, the CFS recommends leaving tonight or early tomorrow morning to ensure your survival.

In areas with an Extreme forecast, only well prepared, well constructed and actively defended houses are likely to be safe during a fire.

When making your exit plan, remember essential services such as electricity and water may not be available due to the weather conditions.

Be safe and call the Bushfire Information Hotline on 1300 362 361 or visit www.cfs.sa.gov.au.
