Drug-addled South Australian sentenced for fatal stabbing
A South Australian man who was affected by drugs and hadn't slept in two days when he fatally stabbed another man has been jailed for nine years.
Jordan Robin Gene Graham, 25, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Kevin Taylor at Whyalla in April 2017.
Supreme Court Justice Malcolm Blue on Wednesday jailed him for nine years, with a non-parole period of seven years, two months.
He said, on the day of the killing, Graham had gone to the house of his "on-again off-again" partner, Emma Stephens, where Mr Taylor had arrived a few minutes earlier.
"When you saw Mr Taylor, you suspected that something might be going on between Ms Stephens and Mr Taylor," Justice Blue said.
"You became angry and Ms Stephens and Mr Taylor tried to calm you down."
Graham punched Mr Taylor in the head, grabbed a knife from the kitchen and fatally stabbed him in the chest.
Justice Blue said Graham intended to wound Mr Taylor, but did not mean to kill him or cause him grievous bodily harm.
Graham will be eligible for parole in 2024.
