Von Stanke Brothers jailed over fatal Mt Gambier bashing
Brothers Dominic and Jordon Von Stanke have been jailed for bashing Mt Gambier man Rex Court to death.
The pair pleaded guilty to manslaughter over the death of 32-year-old Mr Court in a "savage" and "brutal" attack in 2017.
They took just 39 seconds to inflect the fatal blows before fleeing the scene, burning their clothes and hiding their car.
In the Adelaide District Court on Tuesday, Jordon Von Stanke was sentenced to just over six years in prison and his brother Dominic for five years and four months.
Judge Geraldine Davison said Mr Court presented no threat to the brothers when they attacked him and described their actions as both nasty and vicious.
The victim did not fight back and was possibly unconscious when he was finally lifted up and thrown to the ground.
Mr Court was left with severe head injuries and died after being flown to Adelaide for emergency treatment.
In a victim impact statement read to the court in December, his sister Samantha Warner said the brutality of the attack "chills me to the bone".
"You kept going when he was unconscious, when you knew what you had done was so wrong," she told the Von Stankes.
"You left him there to die."
