In news that has shocked and delighted music fans the world over, ABBA have officially announced that they have written and recorded together for the first time since they broke up way, way back in 1982! .

The Swedish four-piece, who had a string of hits between 1974 and 1980, revealed on Instagram that they have recorded not one but two brand new songs for a project where avatar versions of the group will perform in concert.

Abba star Björn Ulvaeus recently revealed plans for the band’s avatar project which will include a two-hour TV show co-produced by NBC and the BBC, which will see the band perform as computer-generated avatars.

The avatars are then expected to ‘tour’ worldwide next year.

Abba famously formed in Stockholm comprising two couples: Ulvaeus and Agnetha Fältskog; and Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad.

The group burst onto the international stage after winning the Eurovision song contest in Brighton in 1974 with their song Waterloo.

The group had a string of hits including Knowing Me, Knowing You, Take a Chance on Me, Dancing Queen and The Name of the Game.
