Cate Blanchett is an Aussie acting legend, and to the general public, has always seemed like a sophisticated, demure character who might not have much by way of sexy secrets.
The happily married actress has three sons and a newly adopted daughter to her partner, actor Andrew Upton – but it seems that males haven’t always been her preference.
In a recent interview with Variety Magazine, the 45-year-old was asked about her bisexual role in the new film, Carol.
When asked whether her movie role was her first lesbian experience, Blanchett asked coyly, “On film – or in real life?”
The reporter then asked Blanchett to confirm whether or not she has had past relationships with women, to which she replied, “Yes. Many times.”
That was where the conversation ended, with Blanchett refusing to answer any more questions on the topic – so we may never know the identity of her former female flames.
The star also admitted to drumming up inspiration for her role, “I read a lot of girl-on-girl books from the period,” she said.
