The BBC is reporting the Australian Grand Prix will be cancelled following a positive CoVid-19 test was confirmed in Team McLaren.

The news led to the McLaren team announcing their withdrawal from the race.

Members of the Haas team have also been placed in isolation as they await the results of tests.

The race weekend is set to start today with its first open practice session but is now highly unlikely to go ahead.

Meanwhile, six-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton had previously described the decision to push forward with the Grand Prix as “shocking”.

According to the BBC , the decision was reportedly made in a two-hour meeting in the early hours of the morning by Formula 1’s governing body, FIA.

A formal announcement from FIA is expected to be made shortly.
