Ever wanted to know what a white Christmas was like? Well, the Alpine Winter Festival just might make your dreams come true.
Setting up in Glenelg, you’ll get the best of both worlds with the beach on one side and a cosy winter festival on the other. Previously set up at Victoria Square and the Adelaide Riverbank, this year the Alpine Winter Festival wanted to transform the beachfront into a winter wonderland.
The 24-day Alpine Winter Festival kicks off on June 25 and goes until July 18, with a culturally themed winter hub taking over Glenelg. With immersive art, food, markets, music, ice skating, twinkling lights and even Christmas trees, this festival is sure to get you into the winter spirit.
Get toasty by the firepits, experience some of the amazing food and drinks from the Scandinavian Alpine Ski Lodge and peruse around the European inspired Christmas markets.
The festival is being put on by Momentarily and City of Holdfast Bay, with Momentarily Creative Director Stuart Duckworth saying, “We are excited to announce this new era for Alpine Winter Festival. After the success of Mad March, we wanted to continue South Australia’s reputation as the festival state, not the sleepy state during winter.”
“Glenelg is beautiful at any time of the year, but to see Moseley Square and the foreshore come alive with Christmas lights, market stalls and fire pits will be quite the spectacle.”
The Alpine Winter Festival will be open at Glenelg Foreshore 10:00am till late every day, from Friday 25 June to Sunday 18 July. Get more info here.
