Makers of SA’s most famous brown lime cordial, Bickford’s, will begin making hand sanitiser today as it looks to address a nationwide spike in demand for the product.

Production will get underway today on the first 60,000 bottles of the hand sanitiser at the brand’s Salisbury factory.

The transition to producing hand sanitiser comes after the Queensland government approached the South Aussie business looking for more bottles.

While the alcohol in the sanitiser will be produced in Queensland at a distillery in Beenleigh, the sanitiser will be produced and bottled here in Adelaide.

Half of the first 60,000 bottles will be made available for the public to buy via Wheel & Barrow’s website, while the remaining 30,000 will be supplied to the Queensland government and Bickford’s staff.
