SAPOL will not break up your gathering of three to ten people, despite the Prime Minister’s advice that we should only congregate with a maximum of one other person.
Although the two person limit remains the advice for the SA public, Police Commissioner Grant Stevens told The Advertiser that “when it comes to enforcement (they) will be looking at that 10 or more rule.”
The clarification from SA’s police comes as the rate of increase in the state has waned over the last two days with six new cases of coronavirus recorded across SA yesterday.
The Commissioner pointed to SA’s comparatively low infection rate as the reason behind not enforcing the new advice.
However, Commissioner Stevens would not commit to the same limits on public gatherings being in place for the Easter break.
“If we see significant, unnecessary travel and noncompliance with the requests, then we will revisit the directions.”
