Adelaide’s ageing aquatic centre could be rebuilt on the city’s Riverbank, if a plan being considered by the Adelaide City Council goes ahead.

The Advertiser reports that the council is considering three sites around the CBD and its fringes as potential options for a new aquatic centre.

Sites being considered are located in the western parklands near Priceline Stadium, an area near Adelaide Oval and a site on the Riverbank by the North Adelaide Par 3 golf course.

The council has also not ruled out rebuilding at the aquatic centre’s existing location on Jeffcott Tce in the city’s northern parklands.

A new facility is expected to boost the centre’s patronage by as much as 40 per cent.

In April, the coronavirus pandemic forced the Adelaide Crows to put plans for a new training facility on the existing site of the Adelaide Aquatic Centre on ice.
