Adelaide has rocketed up the rankings of Australia’s most liveable places to live, with Central Adelaide and the Adelaide Hills topping the ranking in a new national survey.

New research from Ipsos has revealed that the two regions overperformed across 16 metrics for ranking a city’s liveability.

Safety, affordable housing and health services are among those ranked by people living in the areas.

While central Adelaide and the Hills were ranked highly, Adelaide’s western, southern and northern suburbs did not poll so favourably.

Adelaide’s northern suburbs was ranked 26th most liveable out of 42 metro areas in the country.

Sydney’s south-west took the unenviable title of Australia’s least liveable metropolitan area.
