As many as 1,000 employees of Adelaide’s Skycity Casino stand to be affected by the Federal Government’s decision to close all licensed venues as of midday today.

The move to shutter all pubs, clubs, cinemas, casinos and places of worships is the latest in a line of measures to try and stem the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

However, extensions to the casino will continue being built, with the new social distancing requirements not affecting construction sites.

While restaurants have been given the option to continue serving takeaway food, the casino’s three big restaurants Sean’s Kitchen, Madame Hanoi and The Guardsman have all shuttered their doors for the time being.

SkyCity CEO told The Advertiser that looking after its 1,000 local employees is their priority.

“We are now very focused on addressing the welfare of our 1,000 employees in Adelaide.”
