Adelaide’s last remaining drive-In at Gepps Cross will throw open its gates for the first time in months tonight as coronavirus restrictions begin to ease.
The drive in will reopen with two sessions on Friday and Saturday night.
Tickets are currently only available online, with the total capacity for the theatre reduced from 800 cars down to around 350 vehicles.
Entry costs $25 per car, with a maximum allowed occupancy of 5 per car.
If you’ve never been, now is the time to experience possibly the most nostalgic way to watch movies (which happens to lend itself very nicely to social distancing).
The drive-in has been Adelaide’s only drive-in theatre since Wallis Cinemas’ Valleyline drive-in at St Agnes closed in 2003, and survived an arson attack in 2017.
Yesterday, Palace Cinemas announced that they will be reopening their cinemas at Prospect and in the city’s East End from July 2.
Mainline drive-in schedule for this weekend:
Friday 29 May:
6:30 – Sonic The Hedgehog
9:15 – Bloodshot
Saturday 30 May:
6:30 – Jumanji
9:30 – The Invisible Man
