For the first time in over 120 years, Happy Vallet Reservoir is getting a glow-up to be the best place to be in summer, opening in December this year.
Just half an hour from the CBD, it’s the perfect day trip and the latest concept plans of the Reservoir unveil two kayaking ports, fishing, picnic areas and plenty of bike riding and walking space with over 20km of trails. These trails will also connect with SA’s newest national park – Glenthorne.
It will be the place to be this summer for all outdoorsmen and is set to open in December, just in time for the school holidays.
Minister for Environment and Water David Speirs is super excited to open the gates in summer, saying, “Happy Valley Reservoir Reserve will combine adventure, family fun and environmental preservation for a wonderful nature experience in the heart of the metropolitan area, and I can’t wait to open the gates this summer.”
Premier Steven Marshall is highly enthused about the importance of reservoirs and the positive impact on the community.
“Opening up reservoirs across South Australia has proven to be an outstanding success, increasing visitor numbers, bolstering regional economies and creating local jobs,” Marshall says.
