A young Adelaide man is more than $37 Million richer after claiming the division one jackpot in Australia’s biggest ever lottery draw last night.

Three Australians will share the $110 Million prize – the man from Adelaide, one from Victoria, and one from NSW.

The winners in Victoria and NSW are yet to be identified.

The Adelaide man will actually collect $37,602,912.27, which is about one million more than the other two winners as he also won the division 2 prize 19 times.

He discovered the news at about 9pm last night when he received a call from lottery officials.

There was reportedly a long silence on the other end of the phone when they broke the news to him.

Eventually, he said: “Thank you so much. That is incredible. I can’t believe that. I am shaking so much. This is going to change many lives.”

The man has chosen to remain anonymous. (Smart idea, mate!)

“I was definitely not expecting this phone call! Just like everyone who buys a ticket you never think it’s going to actually happen to you.,” he said.

“My heart is going a million miles an hour. That’s unbelievable! Wow! Thank you!”

As for whether the winner would be going to work tomorrow, he joked he was contemplating drafting his resignation letter immediately.

“I might quit my job,” he laughed.

“I don’t know, I’m still in shock! I just can’t wait to get off the phone so I can call my family and tell them the news.

I don’t know if they’ll even believe me!”

The winner purchased his QuickPick Powerhit entry online at thelott.com..

“I am not sure where exactly I’ll be going but I think a round-the-world trip might be on the cards,” he said.

“In fact, we could even do it first class!

“I’ll also pay off my family’s mortgages and donate heaps to charity.”

A third of all Australians are estimated to have bought a ticket in last night’s draw. That’s a lot of losing tickets!

The winning numbers were: 6, 13, 1, 11, 23, 27 and 16, with the Powerball, 11.
