A planned, second Black Lives Matter rally throughout the Adelaide CBD will not be given an exemption by SAPOL.

In a press conference alongside Premier Steven Marshall, Police Commissioner Grant Stevens announced that although crowds will be welcomed back at Adelaide Oval for this Saturday’s Showdown, gathering for a protest this weekend will remain against the law.

Saturday’s rally attracted an estimated crowd of 6,000 people, however, Commissioner Stevens has described it as a “one-off event.”

People who attend the rally run the risk of copping a fine, Commissioner Stevens saying that attendees “run the risk of being issued expiation notice or risk being reported or arrested.”

Meanwhile, over 2,000 people will be allowed to watch the Showdown live on Saturday night.
