Around 600 people attended the president’s luncheon event in the Olympic room for $725 a seat at the much sought after ANZAC Day match between Collingwood and Essendon.
The MCC has now confirmed “a number of guests presented with gastro-intestinal issues”.
The MCC say they are investigating to determine the cause amid rumours that some guests passed out because of the suspected food poisoning, with several violently ill patrons reportedly taken to hospital.
Diners have told the Herald Sun the two-course lunch started with a chicken and rabbit terrine entree, with some people becoming ill less than 20 minutes after eating, as the lamb main courses were left largely untouched.
