If you’re feeling a little worse for wear, perhaps a bit tired, or simply cynical about the world (I can’t blame nor judge you) I might have some dopamine providing suggestions…

Want to feel little better today? I’ve got you my love!

DONATING BLOOD (AS A TEAM?!)

Are you 18–75 years old, healthy and weigh over 50 kg? Then guess what? – Life saver! You can sign up to the Australia Red Cross Blood donation program. It’s a simple thing, and probably something you’ve thought about before. You could be part of helping saving thousands of Aussies each year! Maybe today’s the day you finally book in?

If needles make you nervy, start a group with your workmates, friends or sports team and register to do it together! You’ll be able to track how many lives you save as a collective and can help each other through it.

JOIN A COMMUNITY GARDEN

It’s weird. I’ve done some research and it’s A LOT easier than I thought it would be to find a community garden – They have a habit of feeling few, far, and in-between – Regardless! Find your local community garden here.

What’s pretty awesome is Lipton Ice Tea is fronting the community garden mantra, and helping others out by transforming Aussie community gardens. It’s providing much-needed funding for fresh plants, tools and garden beds, as well as throwing extra volunteers into the mix to power through weeding, spreading mulch and planting!

VOLUNTEER AS A COMMUNITY VISTOR

There are many members of the community that would benefit from your kind words, and listening ears. Volunteering to have a chat with isolated members of the community can make a big difference! Ask your local council or aged care facility how you may be able to help!

RUN OR DO PUSH-UPS TO RAISE MONEY

For a lot of us, motivation to get active is scarce at the best of times. But doing it to raise money for people who need it? That could convince you! Given you’ve gotta hit up everyone you know for cash, your commitment is public — there’s no way to shimmy out now. Also, once you get a running routine going again, you’ll be feeling a million bucks!

CLEAN-UP BY KYAK

These events exist, and I don’t think there’s a more exciting way to pick up some rubbish!? Grab your mates and hit the water to enjoy the views whilst picking up any rubbish you come across along the way. Some cities run specific tours to clean-up by kayak, but there’s nothing stopping you from hiring one on a sunny day to collect some crap!

The moral here is, even if you feel like absolute dog sh*t … I assure you there are plenty of reasons to smile, and plenty of activities that could make you feel like an ABSOLUTE superhero!
